Happy Birthday FingerSCAN S3

February 6, 2016

FingerSCAN S3 is a very simple biometric-enabled Android application that just turned 1 Years old. You've come along way baby since Version 1!

This app can be used for a variety of purposes to capture electronic fingerprint images and then share those images via email, secure FTP and through USB download. We are quite an advocate of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiative and so this system is compatible with a wide variety of Android devices (but admittedly, not all). Having gone to trade events and asked, "Will FingerSCAN S3 run on my Android phone?" The answer is always, "Download the app from GooglePlay and see if the app renders correctly on your screen."  If the answer is yes, the next step is to get the scanner and USB Host OTG cable to see if the device will power the scanner. If yes, then you can use your own device. If no, WoVoIS has a very low cost JumpKit you are sure to love and this jumpkit includes an Android tablet, Watson Mini fingerprint scanner, FingerSCAN S3 app, USB Host OTG cable, micro fiber cloth, cleaning wipes and fingerprint hydrator.

FingerSCAN S3 has evolved over this past year to provide the following functionality:

  • Convert Wavelet Scalar Quantization (WSQ) images to any format, such as JPEG, BMP and PNG
